Virginia Museum of the Civil War offers free admission to military personnel this summer

NEW MARKET, Va. (WHSV) – The Virginia Museum of the Civil War at New Market Battlefield State Historical Park has become a Blue Star Museum, allowing U.S. military personnel and their families to get free admission this summer.
The program will begin on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, and end on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.
The Virginia Museum of the Civil War provides opportunities to reflect upon the Battle of New Market which happened on May 15, 1864. Students from Virginia Military Institute, who were as young as 15 years old, fought in the battle.
The museum features exhibit galleries, a state-certified Shenandoah Valley Tourist Information Center, an Emmy-winning film, Field of Lost Shoes shown every hour, and a 300-acre battlefield park preserving the core areas of the battlefield and historic Bushong Farm.
