Miyares: Roanoke College discriminated when it allowed trans swimmer on team

Virginia state attorneys say, and school officials deny, that reasonable cause exists to believe Roanoke College discriminated and retaliated against members of its women’s swim team.

Women swimmers complained about their treatment starting in the 2023-24 season while Roanoke College officials for the first time navigated school policies regarding participation of transgender students in athletics. New details were published last week in a report by the office of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares.
