Google investing additional $9B in Virginia, including data centers in Loudoun, Prince William

Googlewillinvestanadditional$9billioninVirginiathroughtheendof2026,withafocusoncloudandartificialintelligenceinfrastructure,Gov.GlennYoungkinannouncedWednesday.
TheinvestmentcomesintheformofanewdatacenterinChesterfieldCountynearRichmondandexpansionofexistingfacilitiesinLoudounandPrinceWilliamcounties,accordingtoanewsreleasefromthegovernor’soffice.
OncethenewChesterfieldCountydatacenteriscomplete,thefacilitywilljointheLoudounandPrinceWilliamcampusesaspartofGoogle’sglobalnetworkofdatacenters—“thebackboneofthecompany’sAIcapabilitiesanddigitalservices,”thereleasestated.
Googlewillbeeligiblefordatacentersalesandusetaxexemptionsonqualifyingcomputerequipmentandenablingsoftware.
