Virginia airports land $48M in federal funding for upgrades

Virginiaissettoreceivemorethan$48millioninfederalfundingtoupgradeinfrastructureat18airports,partofanationwideefforttomodernizeairtravelhubsandboostlocaleconomies.
Themoney,awardedthroughtheU.S.DepartmentofTransportation’sFederalAviationAdministration,willfundconstructionprojectsrangingfromrunwayrehabilitationtonewhangarsandimprovedlighting.Thefundingismadepossibleinpartbythe2021InfrastructureInvestmentandJobsAct.
“Theseinvestmentswillhelpensurethatourairportsareasafe,reliableengineofconnectivityandeconomicgrowthfortravelersandcommunitiesaroundthecommonwealth,”saidU.S.Sens.MarkR.WarnerandTimKaine,D-Va.,inajointstatement.
