RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia’s Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), the state agency that oversees Virginia’s Medicaid program, said weeks after President Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill was signed, they don’t know how cuts to Medicaid will affect the program in Virginia.
“What I’m emphasizing is when I say we don’t know, we really don’t know yet,” DMAS Director Cheryl Roberts told Virginia’s Joint Commission on Health Care on Wednesday, July 23. “It’s not like we have a secret [about] it. We don’t.”
