Youngkin signs Virginia budget with $900 million in cuts, fewer amendments passed

RICHMOND,Va.(WSET)—GovernorGlennYoungkinhassignedthestatebudget,implementingnearly$900millionincuts,amovethatcameafterlawmakersapprovedonly30ofhisapproximately200proposedamendments.
YoungkinsaidthebudgetreductionsaimtomaintainVirginia’seconomicprosperity.
Thegovernor’svetoesincludedfundingforcapitalprojectsinhighereducation,operationalspendingsuchaselectricutilityregulation,andinitiativesrelatedtocommerce,trade,andnaturalandhistoricresources.
