RICHMOND,Va.–LawmakersthissessionvotedtolowertheVirginiaLotterydisclosureamounttoprovidemoreprivacytobig-ticketwinners.
Del.ScottWyatt,R-Mechanicsville,introducedHouseBill1799,whichprotectsthepersonalinformationof$1millionormorelotterywinners.
VirginiaLotterywinnersarecurrentlyrequiredtoreleasepersonalinformation,includingtheirnameandphoto,foranyamountunder$10million.
Forty-fivestateshavelotteries,and21allowwinnerstostayanonymous,accordingtoWorldPopulationReview,whichtracksglobalpopulationdataandtrends.Virginiarequiresthehighestamountneededtostayanonymous.
