Richmond water pump failed overnight

A pump at Richmond’s James River water treatment plant stopped working overnight, the city said Tuesday, a week after a six-day water outage cut off drinking water to thousands of customers.

A pump at Richmond’s James River water treatment plant stopped working overnight, the city said Tuesday, a week after a six-day water outage cut off drinking water to thousands of customers.
Ross Catrow, interim director of the city’s Office of Strategic Communications, released a statement saying that a finish water pump failed, but three main finish pumps and two auxiliary pumps were operating as of Tuesday evening.

The pumps were producing 68 million gallons of water a day, a “volume greater than the average water consumption for this time of year,” the statement said. The level in the city reservoir was at a normal height as well.
