Kings Dominion is closing another long-time ride

It is the second ride to close at Kings Dominion, following Anaconda, a looping steel roller coaster that opened in 1991.

Kings Dominion is closing another decades-old ride. The park is removing Berserker, a Viking ship that swings back and forth like a pendulum and eventually flips riders upside down 100 feet in the air.
It opened in 1984, a year after the park unveiled a water raft ride called White Water Canyon and two years after the wooden roller coaster Grizzly.
Berserker will close before the beginning of the 2025 season, a spokesperson for the park said. The last day of Kings Dominion’s Winterfest was Saturday.
It is the second ride to close at Kings Dominion, following Anaconda, a looping steel roller coaster that opened in 1991. The Hanover County park will debut a new coaster, Rapterra, this spring. Kings Dominion turns 50 years old in 2025.

Asked if Kings Dominion will close any other rides, the spokesperson did not address the question.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg still has a similar swinging ship ride, called The Battering Ram, but Busch Gardens’ version does not go upside down.
