On the statewide ticket, Democrat Abigail Spanberger, a former Congresswoman who represented part of Prince William County, is running for governor against Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle‑Sears. The candidates have combined to raise $100 million.
Democrat Ghazala Hashmi, a member of the state Senate, is vying for lieutenant governor against Republican John Reid, and Republican incumbent Jason Miyares is fighting for reelection as attorney general against Democrat Jay Jones.
Recent polls have shown Spanberger with statistically significant leads, while the lieutenant governor and attorney general races are tighter. Current Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, cannot succeed himself.
