Storms knock out power to tens of thousands of Central Virginia residents

Jul. 27, 2025 — RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Storms on Sunday, July 27 knocked out power for tens of thousands of Dominion Energy customers.
Almost 20,000 people were without power in Henrico, spanning most parts of the county.
In Chesterfield about 14,000 customers lost power, with more than 3,000 of them being in the Meadowbrook area.
More than 2,500 people just north of Midlothian lost power too.
Richmond had about 12,000 people without power.
More than 1,000 of them were in the Fan District and the City’s southside near Westover Hills was also hit hard.
More than 20,000 people in Hanover are also without power.
Petersburg remains mostly unscathed along with Goochland.
