ABINGDON,Va.(WCYB)—Twowomenwhoworkedatachildcarefacilityhavebeenchargedwithassault,accordingtotheWashingtonCounty,VirginiaSheriff’sOffice.
AninvestigationbeganonMarch12followingareportfromtheDepartmentofSocialServices.Thereportwasinitiatedbythefacilityowner,whoself-reportedallegationsagainstemployees,thesheriff’sofficestated.
AsearchwarrantwasobtainedandexecutedonMarch13,2025,priortothearrivalofstaffandchildren.Investigatorsremainedon-siteconductingtheirworkthroughoutthedayandintotheeveninghours.
Theinvestigationincludedinterviewswithemployees,parents,andallegedchildvictims.Authoritiessaidbasedonthetotalityofevidence,includinganadmissionfromoneoftheaccused,detectivesdeterminedtherewassufficientcausetopursuecriminalcharges.
AuthoritiessaidthechargesstemfromincidentsthatoccurredbetweenJanuary1,2025,andMarch12,2025,andinvolve8victims,all4yearsold.
