Officials say the rescue was time sensitive due to thunderstorms that were expected in the area after 5:00 p.m.
Around 4:15 p.m., the crew executed a successful hoist rescue of a hiker who became injured while on Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park in Madison County.

Once the injured hiker was lifted off the mountain, she was flown to a nearby parking area below the rescue site, where she was transferred to an ambulance to be taken to an area hospital.
