LYNCHBURG,Va.(WSET)—Statelawmakersareadvocatingforstricterpenaltiesfordrugdealersconnectedtooverdoses,followingtherecentarrestofadealerinLynchburgforsellingdeadlylaceddrugs. RepublicanDelegateWendellWalkeremphasizedtheseverityoftheissue,stating,“It’snodifferentthanjustgoingandkillingsomeoneonthestreetthere.Becausewealreadyknowthedamagethatdrugsdotoindividuals.”Walkerbelievesthatdealerslinkedtooverdosesshouldfaceharshercharges,suchasfelonyhomicide.“We’vegottomakesurethatthemessageissentthatthisisgoingtobeastrongfelonyoffense,”hesaid.
