Virginia storm damages Jamestown 4-H camp in Williamsburg

OnelargeoaktreewentstraightthroughCabin1,destroyingbunkbeds,walls,theroof,anddecadesofmemories.
“Whenyouseeitupclose,it’scertainlyahittothestomach,”SueWilliams,withtheJamestown4-HEducationalCenter,said.“It’sreallyjustacherishedplace.”
ThehistoricCabin1,builtin1948,nowstandswithasignificantholeinit.
Fortunately,noonewasinsidewhenthestormhit.
CleanupcrewsbegantheprocessofremovingdebrisonMonday.
Withthecamp’sbusiestseasonstartinginafewweeks,Williamssaidthedamageissignificant,especiallysincetheyusuallyprepareformorethan200camperseachnight.
